Our breadth of knowledge is one of our unique advantages, we are able to offer full patient-led service from initial consultation to test to final diagnosis and treatment. Breathlessness, exercise intolerence and breathing-disturbed sleep patterns are commonly multi-dimensional problems requiring a broad range of skills for full resolution. Our team brings that experience to The Cardiopulmonary Centre, drawing on the expertise of our base at London Bridge Hospital. The Cardiopulmonary Centre is led by Mark Roach.
Mark Roach is the Manager of The Cardiopulmonary Centre. A graduate of UCLH and Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield, Mark also manages the Cardiology Department (non-invasive) at London Bridge Hospital. Mark's particular interest is Sports Medicine, in which he graduated with a Masters Degree in 1997.
Mark's specialist interests are cardiopulmonary exercise testing in clinical populations, respiratory medicine (especially COPD) and sleep disordered breathing (obstructive sleep apnoea). Mark also has specialist interest in implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD's), pacemakers and devices for heart failure, especially resynchronisation and rate-response optimisation during exercise. Mark also has a background in cardiac electrophysiology and interventional cardiology . Mark is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and has testamur in IBHRE (International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners) examinations in cardiac pacing/defibrillation and cardiac electrophysiology. Mark is a Prince 2 certified Project Manager and a keen triathlete!
